During the visit:
Rachel will meet with specific classes for a period of time. During that meeting, Rachel will read two of her children's books. After the reading she will answer questions. Then, the students will write their OWN story, using digital storytelling software online, with Rachel's guidance.

Building Excitement:

I would send out flyers about the author to the parent's. I would also use this website to let parent's know about the author and the visit. I would also decorate the library for the upcoming visit. I would have student's create book trailers based on the author's books.

Sale of Author's Books:

I would use book trailers to try to sell the books. I would link the trailers to the amazon page that has the book.
WHAT TECH TOOLS COULD YOU USE TO WORK WITH THE PTA PERSON IN CHARGE OF THE AUTHOR VISIT FOR PLANNING AND ORGANIZING THE BIG DAY????

I would use google docs for making a schedule for the person in charge of the visit and for the author. I would use google maps for the author to find our school. Also, I would use twitter to keep students and parents up to date as to the author's whereabouts. Actually, I believe google maps has a program that tracks a trip. So if the author wouldn't mind, she could use this program to let the students track her trip to us. I've used that program a few years ago when I drove to Florida. It's very cute. It looks like a little car driving and I had it linked to my facebook so my friends could click on the link to see my little car driving and know what state I was in.
